Huawei has launched an SDN-based Agile IoT platform, including the dedicated LiteOS operating system.
The Chinese vendor has unveiled an IoT ecosytem consisting of three core-components – LiteOS, Agile IoT gateways and an Agile controller.
LiteOS is an open-source IoT OS designed for use in objects including sensors, wearables and home appliances.
Huawei boasts that according to other IoT OS choices, LiteOS is three times smaller, consumers four times less power and responds 20% faster to commands.
Due to the open-source nature, users will be able to adopt code from the open-source community to build their own IoT products.
The related IoT gateways and controller are designed to bridge sensor and IP networks and allow unified management of terminals, gateways, applications and data.
“IoT is the future of our increasingly digitized world and networks are key to driving value creation for enterprises,” Huawei general manager of enterprise gateway product domain Li Xiayin said.
“With Huawei’s IoT technologies and offerings, we hope to support the digital transformation of traditional industries and the development of the IoT ecosystem.”
Huawei is also rumored to be developing its own smartphone operating system housed in a dedicated system-on-a-chip (SOC).
