Huawei recently announced a suite of solutions designed to help global multi-service operators (MSOs) strengthen their competitiveness in the digital era.
To address the rapid proliferation of connected devices and competition from fast-moving over-the-top players (OTTs) and traditional telcos, Huawei advocates a two-pronged strategy for MSOs.
First, to provide high-quality multi-screen services to accelerate video business opportunities; and second, to enhance broadband services to ensure a superior user experience.
"MSOs need to evolve quickly to remain competitive and drive revenue growth," said Ron Pitcock , VP/GM of MSO Group, Huawei USA . "To expand their video business, MSOs must respond to users' increasing demands for enriched original content and multi-screen experiences.”
Pitcock said the broadband business is key to MSOs' business growth, although the competition is intensifying as the market becomes saturated and telcos are catching up through fiber to the x (FTTx) and G.fast deployment.
He added that MSOs also need to continuously improve network performance by leveraging FTTx as well as DOCSIS 3.1.
During SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2015, Huawei showcased its Hybrid Video Solution and a series of GigaBand Network solutions spanning Giga Coax, Giga Transmission and Giga Backhaul.
These solutions help MSOs advance their service and network capabilities towards full-service operation and delivery of optimal multi-screen experiences to end users.
