Huawei and Intel jointly hosted the second annual China OpenStack Hackathon in Xi'an last month.

Representing the highest-level of developer capabilities within China’s OpenStack community, the event consisted of three sessions: a series of OpenStack technical presentations, a programming marathon, and a visit to Huawei’s NFV/SDN Open Labs.

By the end of the three-day collaboration, developers had repaired a total of 118 bugs in the OpenStack Liberty release, tripling the results achieved in the first China OpenStack Hackathon last year.

In the spirit of open source and open-minded collaboration, Huawei and Intel opened up the event to all developers working in the OpenStack community in China, and invited them to sign up to the event through the official OpenStack Foundation website.

In total, the event gathered 45 top OpenStack developers from 8 enterprises including 99Cloud, AWCloud, UnitedStack, LETV, Mirantis and IBM. Seven core OpenStack developers from Huawei, Intel, Mirantis and IBM were among the 45 developers invited to provide technical support and share their experience.

To witness the OpenStack application in action, developers were also invited to visit Huawei's NFV/SDN Open Labs in Xi'an. With telecom NFV (network virtualization) the key application scenario for OpenStack, Huawei established an industry-leading NFV open lab at the beginning of 2015 to jointly carry out service innovations with customers, partners, industrial organizations and open source organizations.
