PCCW's HKT this week launched a public cloud service targeted at enterprises in Hong Kong.
Carrier-grade public cloud service HKT Enterprise Cloud comprises HKT's network infrastructure, facilities management and local customer support service. It is supported by HP's cloud infrastructure, local support and professional services on planning, software and implementation.
The HKT Enterprise Cloud provides two resource pools: a hardware resource pool that includes CPU, RAM, CPU; and a network resource pool that comprises cloud private network, private network connection, and internet connection.
“Together they form a 'virtual data center' that enables CIOs to allocate resources and have full control over their cloud deployments,” said Larry Wong, senior vice president, marketing & products, Commercial Group.
HKT Enterprise Cloud offers cross-border services for customers with a dual presence in Hong Kong and China. According to Tom Chan, HKT's managing director of Commercial Group, HKT has recently inked three partnerships in China for data center services in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. “At present, we have no plan to build data centers in China,” he added.
“HKT is the only service provider in Hong Kong offering all-round carrier grade services in the enterprise cloud market - from network connection, facilities management and local support to professional services,” he added.
Concerning network coverage, HKT provides a private data network enabling co-located customers to connect their own servers directly to HKT Enterprise Cloud. “HKT Enterprise Cloud guarantees a RTT round trip delay of less than 1.8 milliseconds,” Wong said.
HKT also offers fiber broadband Internet with hotspots attaining 1GB broadband, mobile network specification up to 4G LTE 150Mbps and a Wi-Fi network up to 802.11ac to allow customers to connect to HKT Enterprise Cloud anytime, using any of the network options.
To address data security concerns, Ho said the HKT cloud infrastructure is supported by DDoS protection, hardware and software layer security control, two-factor authentication and the ISO27001 information security management system (ISMS) standard.
