ZTE unveiled what it said is the world's first smartphone capable of download speeds reaching up to 1Gbps.

The Gigabit Phone uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-a-chip with an integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem, providing support for a combination of carrier aggregation, 4x4 MIMO antenna technology and 256-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM).

ZTE said the Gigabit Phone can provide download speeds up to 10 times faster than first-generation LTE devices. The device is also three times as powerful at improving data processing capabilities in the current network, and forms a key component of ZTE's evolution to 5G.

HMD, the company set up by a group of former Nokia executives to revive the Nokia handset brand, has meanwhile introduced a line of new handsets - including a resurrection of the iconic 3310 feature phone.

The Nokia 3310 has been developed to provide 22 hours of talk time and a month of stand-by time, and comes in four different color schemes. The 2G-only handset will retail for an average of €49 ($51.75).

HMD is also introducing three new Android-based smartphones – the Nokia 3, 5 and 6. The smartphones have 5”, 5.2” and 5.5” screens respectively and will have global average retail prices of €139, €189 and €229.

Finally, Nokia announced that it is bringing back the globally popular game Snake to play for free on Facebook Messenger.

LG announced the LG G6, which has a minimalistic design. The unique selling point of the G6 is its display - a 5.7”, 1440p screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio that uses the company's FullVision technology.

The device is also the first smartphone to support Dolby Vision technology and also supports HDR 10 – both standards for high dynamic range picture quality technology.

Huawei used the event to introduce the P10, which will come in 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch variants. The smartphones use Huawei's Kirin 960 processor and EMUI software for Android.

The company highlighted the device's Leica dual-camera system, which uses technologies such as precise 3D facial detection and dynamic illumination for both front and back camera photography.

Huawei has also introduced the Huawei Watch 2 health and fitness tracking devices.
