Hong Kong-based Global Cloud Xchange (GCX) has launched Cloud X in London to enable speedy delivery of applications and content across the GCX's global fiber network.
The setting up of the London node -- the first in Europe -- follows its earlier launch of the first nodes in Hong Kong and Palo Alto, US.
Cloud X is a cloud platform that enables organizations to deploy complex multi-tiered enterprise applications directly on to customer's enterprise networks in minutes, rather than months.
The cloud platform also supports network transparency -- a key element in accelerating enterprise applications to the cloud.
As part of a global integrated network, the London facility hosts the first Cloud X node to launch in Europe. In October, GCX announced deployment of Cloud X in Hong Kong and Silicon Valley, with plans underway to transform 20 plus facilities by mid-2015 into Cloud X nodes aligned with an automated orchestration layer.
"Cloud X is changing the paradigm of cloud computing," said Bill Barney, CEO of GCX. "The network must now undergo a profound transformation, from a static entity, to a dynamic, intelligent, application-aware fabric that can support multiple traffic requirements, diverse geographies and flexible pricing models."
