Far EasTone Telecom acquires a 51% stake in a wireless service provider Q-ware Systems for $15 million. Taiwanese industry watchers analyzed the acquisition is Far EasTone's first step into the market for WiMAX wireless Internet connection service.

NTT DoCoMo signs an operational tie-up with McDonald's Holdings (Japan) on credit settlement services using its mobile phones in a move they hope will promote electronic marketing in Japan. DoCoMo said the business alliance will allow customers to use handsets with its 'iD' platform for mobile phone credit card functions at McDonald's stores.

Mobile content firm Rhythm NewMedia expands its presence in Asia with the opening of the firm's office in India. Rhythm's India center will take on fundamental new product development as well as regional business development, the firm said.

Singapore's M1 announces the deployment of Talgentra's customer revenue management and collection system to manage the collection of unpaid customer bills. Talgentra's Tallyman enables M1 to segment customers in arrears in the same way that marketing departments can segment customers.
