Ericsson signs a deal for building Dialog Telekom's 3G network in Sri Lanka. Ericsson said Dialog's 3G rollout, the first in the South Asian region, will see it provide the entire core network, as well as supply the majority of the radio access network.

Samsung secures a deal to provide digital TV services solutions for Time Warner Cable. Samsung said it will provide its open cable application platform to expand Time Warner's existing digital TV services system.

ZTE wins a contract to commercially deploy a cdma2000 network in the Czech Republic. ZTE said it will deploy the new network together with Czech trunking solutions provider MobilKom in early 2007.

KDDI develops two mobile phone models for children that allow their parents to locate them even when the phone is turned off. Children can send emergency emails to their parents simply by pushing a button on their mobile phones, allowing their guardians to trace their movements using GPS.
