Malaysia's Celcom plans to rollout audio news and headline services under its new mobile podcast offering. The carrier said it is looking at providing 30-second local news which will be sourcing the news from its stringers as well as from international wire services.

ZTE secures an auction run by China Telecom for the supply of IPTV equipment in Hubei province. ZTE said Hubei Telecom expects 80,000 households in seven districts to subscribe to its IPTV service.

Japanese publisher Shinchosha says it will soon launch what it calls the country's first digital subscription magazine, an online comic transmitted to mobile phone. 'Com2' will contain about 200 pages of cartoons and is geared toward cell phones so readers in Japan can keep up with their favorites on the go.

Huawei reports that its sales of its CDMA across the globe increased 30%, year-on-year. The company also said it received up to 16 new contracts for commercial use of EV-DO last year, ranking as the No.1 in the industry.
