AT&T has expanded its carrier Ethernet footprint outside of the US market and into Asia offering services in Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore and Japan. The operator has also began offering services in nine European countries.

Google has adapted its AdWords service for use on the iPhone and Android-powered phones. The ads can point to desktop landing pages, freeing advertisers from the necessity of developing custom advertising or mobile landing pages.

Sotelco, a Cambodian subsidiary of VimpelCom, has contracted Huawei Technologies to build a nationwide GSM network in Cambodia over the next five year, which will allow the operator to provide enhanced multimedia and digital mobile phone services for its subscribers.

A consortium led by SingTel has submitted a bid for building Singapore's Next Generation National Broadband Network. Rival operator M1 announced earlier this week it had submitted a bid of its own.

KDDI has commenced commercial deployment of 2Gbps EPON FTTx services. The EPON technology has been provided by Teknovus.

Former Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin is being considered for the top job at Yahoo, according to insider sources quoted in the Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, Bloomberg has reported that the company is still weeks away from finding a replacement for former CEO Jerry Yang.
