Ericsson names Karlsson SVP, head of digital services unit

Ericsson has appointed Jan Karlsson (pictured) as senior vice president, head of business area digital services, and a member of the Ericsson executive team. Karlsson has held several executive positions within Ericsson since he joined the company in 2014.

Commenting on the appointment, Börje Ekholm, president and CEO of Ericsson, says: “I am very pleased to welcome Jan as a permanent member to the executive team. Under his leadership he has ensured that we have continued to execute on our plans to turn the business around in digital services.”

Most recently he held the position as head of solution area BSS within business area digital services.

Before joining Ericsson, Karlsson was CEO of DigitalRoute, an independent software vendor focusing on data collection and pre-processing across telco and non-telco verticals.

His latest appointment will be effective as of August 1.

Hooq names new heads for original content production and Indonesia market

Southeast Asian video on demand (VoD) service Hooq has strengthened its content team with the appointment of Bryan Seah and Tian Arwin.

The company has appointed Seah (pictured) as its new head of original productions, based out at Hooq’s headquarters in Singapore. Prior to joining Hooq, Seah was the head of original content at Discovery Network where he oversaw original branded content for the likes of Nestlé, Audi and Samsung.

Arwin (pictured) has joined Hooq as head of content for Indonesia. She will be based in the Jakarta office, leading content and programming strategies in Indonesia – the fastest growing market for Hooq.

Arwin brings to the table over 18 years of experience in the industry with notable stints in MTV Indonesia, Fremantlemedia, Astro Indonesia and Vivasky. Most recently she was the head of content and programming at Viu Indonesia.

Bob Gough joins Goonhilly to lead business expansion in APAC

UK space company Goonhilly Earth Station has appointed Bob Gough as head of business development for Australia and Asia-Pacific.

In this new role, Gough will be based out in Australia, leading the company’s business expansion across the region.

Gough has over 35 years in the space and satellite communications industry. His experience includes working on major projects in co-operation with international space agencies including ESA. Additionally, he has founded several successful technology companies, and played a key role in numerous communications satellite programs worldwide since the 1970s.

The appointment comes as Goonhilly unveiled its roadmap and investments to strengthen its position in the satellite industry, including investing in infrastructure and facilities in the US and Australia to support globally based deep space projects.
