Connectivity services provider Epsilon has teamed up with Indonesian dark fiber operator PT Power Telecom (PowerTel) to provide a fiber service in Jakarta for domestic and international operators.
The companies will jointly offer fiber connectivity to Jakarta's largest data centers Cyber One and Cyber CXJ, and plan to expand the service to other major facilities shortly.
The service will use PowerTel's dark fiber assets and Epsilon's service offerings to provide last mile connectivity in metro Jakarta.
PowerTel will use the agreement to provide lit fiber capacity to local enterprises and service providers, while Epsilon will target the offering at its international network operator customers.
Epsilon said it has two nodes connecting Indonesia to Singapore. The service will make use of
Epsilon's Global Network Exchange, which reaches some 170 countries worldwide.
PowerTel president director Dicky Tjokrosaputro said the agreement will be mutually beneficial for both companies.
“Demand in the local telecoms market is growing with the Indonesian economy showing more than 7% growth annually. More economic development means more demand for connectivity and with deals like this we’re ready to serve it.”
The deal comes weeks after Epsilon announced it had extended its partnership with Myanmar operator YTP to provide data services and international connectivity for domestic and foreign companies operating in the nation.
