Former employees of Thai operator Dtac are accusing the company of forcing them to resign after setting up a labor union.

The 10 former workers plan to petition the nation's Labour Ministry seeking their reinstatement, Bangkok Post reported. The petition will be filed this week.

According to the union, the employees were offered an ultimatum – quit and receive 10 months' base salary, or be laid off and given only the standard severance package.

Dtac has denied any connection between the employees leaving and the forming of the union, with a spokesperson telling the Post that it had encouraged 10 underperforming workers to take an early retirement package.

The operator insisted it will not discriminate between union and non-union staff, and has no problem with workers setting up the labor union.
