(Kyodo News International via NewsEdge) NTT DoCoMo has licensed Hutchison Essar of India to offer i-mode mobile phone based Internet services.
The fourth-largest Indian mobile-phone services operator, based in Mumbai, will start providing the wireless Internet services in India by the end of 2007, the Japanese firm said.
First introduced in Japan in 1999, i-mode services are now being offered in 15 countries and regions overseas.
Preparation is under way for making the services available in 10 other countries, including India, according to NTT DoCoMo.
