(Associated Press via NewsEdge) Google and Yahoo have a touch more competition, at least in Cuba, where officials have unveiled a new search engine dedicated to the island's own Web sites.

The search engine '2x3,' apparently does not connect to the World Wide Web outside Cuba but does scan through Cuban news media and some official documents. A special section is dedicated to the speeches of President Fidel Castro.

Chief technician Leandro Silva, who described the search engine for the newspaper Juventud Rebelde, said it covers 150,000 pages of Cuban Web sites, still less than half of what is planned.

The site is still in a beta version, and Silva said officials hope to move it to a permanent Web address.

The product was revealed during an information technology conference that ended Friday in Havana.
