CTM will launch a mobile data sharing service next month for customers subscribing to its newly launched 4G tariff, which would reduce data roaming expenses when going online in the mainland and Hong Kong.

The announcement was made this week during a media briefing for the telecom operator’s 34 years of operation and the official launch of its 4G service.

According to the presentation, the company’s 4G network supports both FDD and TDD wireless technology for a more stable and faster transmission speed and uses VoLTE technology.

The 4G network also raises the download speed to 112mbps, which the company aims to increase to 450mbps next year.

About 20,000 CTM clients who have previously registered for the 4G trial are already using the new service. CTM VP of Commercial Affairs Ebel Cham Pou I said the company would also launch a mobile data sharing service plan covering Macau, the mainland and Hong Kong next month.

“This is just one of the services that many people are asking for,” Cham said, “So if people are on a 1GB plan, the 1GB can be used in the three places and they don’t have to buy data to use when they’re in [China].”
