(Satellite Today via NewsEdge) Charges related to the shutdown of its Connexion satellite Internet unit pulled down Boeing's profit to $694 million in the third quarter ended Sept. 30, down from of $1 billion in the same period last year.

Revenues, however, improved to $14.7 billion in the July-September period from $12.4 billion a year ago.

Boeing announced in August that it would end the Connexion service at the end of the year, after having lost around $1 billion on the satellite broadband service. The company said it would take a $350-million charge to end the venture.
