Mobile Security Vendor of the Year: Juniper Networks

Andy Miller, Juniper Networks' VP for its software business in Asia Pacific, discusses the secret to the company's continued growth.

Juniper's continued success can be attributed to our relentless commitment to innovation - enabling mobile service providers to deliver secure, high-performance solutions to residential and business subscribers, while maintaining the control and scaling efficiency required in their own infrastructures.

What are the main industry trends you have capitalized on to drive growth?

The adoption of tablets and smartphones in the workplace continues to grow rapidly to the point where in some mature markets smartphones can account for 60-70% of all mobile devices. Corporations are finding tablets to be a cost-effective and efficient alternative to notebooks. Our society is becoming more mobile and more connected and Juniper's goal to "Connect Everything, Empower Everyone" is very relevant.

How is the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend impacting demand for your security solutions?

We hear countless stories of the CEO walking into the CIO's office and saying "I have this great new device and I need to access the corporate apps." Of course that has grown now to many employees preferring to use their own devices at home and at work. People prefer their favorite environments and Juniper's solutions are allowing the necessary access while protecting the corporate network.

How are you helping telcos be more profitable?

Telco service providers face the challenges of diminishing voice revenues and OTT service providers are reinventing themselves to survive. Juniper Networks develops platforms, such as Junos Pulse, upon which innovative services can developed and deployed at the scale and efficiency required.

There is also a need for a change in mobile network architecture (being driven to scale far beyond what was imagined only two to three years ago) and Juniper is leading this drive with our MobileNext initiative.
