This year's CommunicAsia2012 Summit will explore how the region is shaping the internet through the smartphone boom as a record number of speakers gather at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, June 19-22.

This year's conference will tackle mobile technology at a time when mobile phones are predicted to dislodge PCs as the most common web access device across the globe by 2013.

"As mobile technologies transform the ICT landscape and revolutionize business models and marketing approaches, understanding this small but powerful device is vital to manoeuvring through the future ICT landscape," said Lindy Wee, director of PR and conferences at Singapore Exhibition Services (SES).

The CommunicAsia2012 Summit's tracks will discuss the potential in mobile advertising and how companies should navigate the app world to optimize ROI. Against the backdrop of increasing healthcare costs and rise in chronic diseases, industry practitioners will share their experiences in using m-health technology to optimize resources and improve patient care. Further zooming in on mobile technologies to equip participants with knowledge necessary for the ultra-connected and dynamic future of ICT, the summit will feature dedicated workshops on mobile marketing strategies and mobile security.

Other conference tracks cover next-generation broadband, satellite communications, cloud computing, over -the-top technologies, customer experience management and augmented reality strategies.

Two main speakers will headline a roster of more than 180 speakers - a record number for CommunicAsia - and navigate through the business opportunities and challenges in Asia as the global ICT industry undergoes rapid transformation and operators around the world strive to provide value-added services through continuous innovation. Aliza Knox, Google Asia Pacific's managing director of commerce, will give an overview of how Asia defines the internet by following the trajectory of the smartphone across the region. Knox will share her views on the latest technological developments taking place in the Asia-Pacific region, especially with regard to the smartphone, and how technology has changed and enabled businesses in Asia to grow.
