As technologies continue to evolve and individual ICT fields increasingly converge, industry players are turning more and more to cross-industry collaboration to give their businesses a long-term boost.

According to Victor Wong, project director of communications for Singapore Exhibition Services, the organizer of CommunicAsia2010, digital media, mobile applications and other emerging technologies are driving traditional industry players to rethink their business models and explore cross-industry collaborations to stay relevant in this dynamic environment.

With more than three months to go before CommunicAsia takes place from June 15-18 at the Singapore Expo, Wong said that more than 80% of the event's 58,000-square-meter exhibition floor has already been taken up. Some 2,000 multinational corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as 33 international group pavilions will showcase their wares during the show. This year's conference and exhibition is again co-located with BroadcastAsia 2010.

Some of the show's top returning exhibitors include satellite firms Asia Broadcast Satellite, Inmarsat, Intelsat and MEASAT; mobile industry player Samsung Electronics; telecom service providers Telekom Malaysia and PCCW Global; and infrastructure solutions providers Huawei, Powerwave Technologies and ZTE.
First-time participants include a group from Bangladesh and another led by India's Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council.

Highlighting this year's show is the new Developer Pavilion, held with the support of the Wireless Industry Partnership, which will feature the latest mobile applications. The new pavilion will likewise have WIPJam sessions, or interactive discussions that open the mobile ecosystem and connect developers with industry experts and decision makers.

CommunicAsia will likewise feature two new technology clusters, FTTx and Sustainable ICT, which aim at addressing new growth opportunities in the region.
The FTTx cluster, formed with the support of the FTTH Council Asia Pacific, will be devoted to examining the latest fiber deployments and services in the world. The Sustainable ICT cluster, on the other hand, will demonstrate how pioneering technologies and unique sustainable ICT projects can enable businesses to effectively contribute to a low-carbon economy.

Aside from the exhibition, the show will also host conference sessions under the CommunicAsia 2010 Summit series. Topics to be discussed include mobile value-added services, cloud computing, marketing through social networking, and green IT, representing some of the most relevant issues in the industry today.
Also to be held in conjunction with CommunicAsia 2010 is EnterpriseIT 2010, which aims to address technology convergence and showcase innovative enterprise solutions that meet the evolving needs of businesses.
