Chunghwa Telecom chairman and CEO Lu Shyue-Ching resigned from his post on Monday with immediate effect, citing personal reasons.

No other reason was given for Lu’s departure. Lu had served as chairman of Chunghwa since 2008.

Chunghwa president Lee Yen-Sung will take over Lu’s position as chairman and CEO, while senior EVP Shih Mu-Piao has been promoted to president.

Lee has been serving as president of Chunghwa since 2012. A statement from the telco credited Lee as being “instrumental in the Company’s ICT & cloud business development over the past several years with his extensive background in information and data engineering.”

New president Shih most recently served as senior EVP in charge of the corporate planning department, which oversees the company’s strategic planning and implementation, including overall network deployment. Prior to that, he was the president of Chunghwa’s mobile business group.
