Chunghwa Telecom will run an LTE trial with Alcatel-Lucent – its second 4G workout.

The end-to-end test, conducted by Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories, will deploy gear in the 2.6 GHz and 700 MHz bands, Alcatel-Lucent said.

The trial would enable Chunghwa “to test the performance of LTE-based services and multimedia applications, and assess the related business models,” the vendor said in a statement.

Alan Biston, head of Alcatel-Lucent’s activities in northeast and southeast Asia, said the trial was “a strong endorsement of Alcatel-Lucent’s innovation and forward-looking strategy in the area of mobile broadband solutions.”

Alcatel-Lucent will supply LTE base stations, evolved packet core gear and other equipment to the trial.

It is involved in 50 LTE customer trials worldwide, and has signed seven commercial contracts.

Chunghwa announced its first LTE trial with Nokia Siemens, its prime 3G supplier, in April.
