(Telecomworldwire via NewsEdge) Mobile operator China Unicom has invested $12.5 million on CDMA network development in Macau.
The company is expected to invest another $25 million to $37 million over the next few years.
China Unicom (Macau) Ltd, the Macau branch of the company, was awarded the CDMA license for the Macau Special Administrative Region in March last year. It has since introduced CDMA services in Macau, providing roaming services for Chinese CDMA users.
According to Macau's Telecommunications Regulation Bureau, the low fees and quality of services provided by China Unicom are thought to have increased competition in Macau's telecom market.
