China Unicom has launched a commercial trial of VoLTE HD voice services in the Henan province, in partnership with ZTE.
ZTE has been appointed the exclusive provider of VoLTE technology for the deployment. The company is providing an end-to-end suite including VoWiFi, VoLTE HD video and audio and RCS.
Henan is the first to launch of seven trial sites for China Unicom's VoLTE commercialization project.
In October, China Unicom, ZTE and HP announced the completion of a proof-of-concept trial of NFV-based VoLTE services.
“We’re pleased to be the exclusive provider for China Unicom as they launch enhanced VoLTE service in Henan,” ZTE VP of core network products Gong Dehua said.
“This project was a testament to ZTE’s industry leading expertise in VoLTE and the solutions that dramatically improve user experience.”
ZTE has to date secured over 210 contracts for commercial and trial IMS networks worldwide with a combined capacity of 220 million subscribers.
