China Telecom is reportedly set to launch MVNO services in Australia to target the nation's Chinese population.

The operator is planning to expand its CTExcelbiz MNVO service - currently available in the UK - into the Australian market, the Beijing Morning Post has reported.

China Telecom reportedly offered 4G mobile services for the recent G20 summit in Brisbane, marking the first time a Chinese operator offered 4G outside of their domestic market.

CTExcelbiz launched in the UK in May 2012 over the EE network. With the launch, China Telecom became the first Chinese operator to offer a foreign MVNO service.

Besides Australia, CTExcelbiz has revealed it is evaluating expanding into other European markets as well as Africa and the Middle East.

China Telecom's planned extension comes in the middle of China's government-mandated two year trial of MVNOs offering services over the big three operator's mobile networks.

China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile were each ordered to partner with at least two private brands for the MVNO trial. China's first MVNO - Telephone World Digital subsidiary T.Mobile - meanwhile went live in May.
