China Mobile, Nokia Networks and Ooredoo Qatar have achieved a 4.1 Gbps speed record over hybrid TDD-FDD LTE.
The companies achieved the speed by aggregating 10 carriers of both TDD and FDD spectrum for a combined 200 MHz of bandwidth.
The trial used Nokia's Single RAN, Flexi Multiradio base station and LTE-A MIMO technologies. Uplink speeds exceeded 300Mbps.
During the trial, the partners achieved an even higher speed than the 3.78Gbps downlink achieved during Nokia's 10-carrier aggregation trial with SK Telecom in June.
“This groundbreaking throughput is a milestone that boosts our efforts as we drive the commercialization and globalization of TD-LTE and TDD-FDD converged technology across the globe,” China Mobile Research Institute deputy GM Madam Huang Yahong said.
“In collaboration with Nokia Networks, our long-standing and trusted partner, we continue to exploit the immense capacity potential of TD-LTE.”
“TDD-FDD LTE not only delivers high uplink and downlink throughput, but also helps balancing the load between two networks, efficiently using the spectrum,” added Nokia Networks vice president of TD-LTE Zhang Qi.
