China Mobile ended 2015 with over 312.2 million 4G customers, representing 37.7% of its total mobile customer base, operating statistics provided by the company show.
The operator added 24.9 million 4G customers in the month of December alone, mostly through existing 3G users upgrading to 4G.
But China Mobile reported total mobile net additions for the month of more than 1 million, taking its total customer base to 826.2 million.
Rival China Telecom meanwhile ended the year with 197.7 million mobile customers and 58.5 million users for its hybrid FDD/TDD LTE network.
China Unicom had 286.6 million total subscribers including 183.8 million combined 3G and 4G customers.
The figures, combined with the three state operators' ongoing LTE expansion plans, show that while the pace may be slowing down China's 4G rollouts are far from over
