The Chinese government has issued a regulation limiting primetime entertainment programming which will take effect in January.

A local media report, quoting a broadcasting official, said a decision yet to be made regarding whether performers from Taiwan and Hong Kong will be banned from TV shows in the country, a broadcasting official said Saturday.

The report quoted Jin Delong, deputy director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, China's media watchdog, as saying that “all satellite TV stations will be required to limit programs of four types — dating, romance, talent and variety shows — starting next year.” The official did not disclose a timetable or any further details of the regulation, the report said.
