Indian CDMA lobby group Auspi, backed by the Tata Group and Reliance, did not turn up for a joint meeting with GSM industry players called by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
The meeting aims to provide final inputs to TRAI, ending the consultation process on the allocation of spectrum for 3G services.
TRAI chairman Nripendra Misra said regulators would submit final recommendations to the government by September.
He confirmed that Auspi did not turn up for the meeting. 'We had provided the two groups a platform to thrash out their viewpoints. But it seems Auspi didn't feel the need to do that,' the official said.
Reliance and Tata are seeking the 1900MHz band for providing 3G services, while the rival GSM operators are seeking the 2.1GHz band.
