(SinoCast via NewsEdge) India's largest carrier BSNL has awarded a $120-million CDMA contract to Chinese equipment maker ZTE, industry sources said.

The sources said ZTE won the bid for the CDMA project, although a final procurement contract has not been wrapped up.

ZTE will provide CDMA network equipment for BSNL within India.

BSN earlier reported that it will invest heavily on upgrading its wireless and fixed networks and will conduct bidding for the projects.

According to sources, though ZTE beat other rivals in the bidding, it is unlikely for it to gain "huge profits" from the project.
