Telstra has introduced 4G international roaming service with its Hong Kong mobile unit, CSL. The new roaming service, with pricing the same as the current 3G offering, allows its LTE customers to access CSL’s 4G services while travelling in Hong Kong. Telstra is working on similar agreements with operators in other countries, with compatible 4G wireless broadband networks, said Mike Wright, executive director networks and access technologies.
PCCW mobile has launched a mobile security service package, which it says help safeguard customers’ personal data and privacy on their smartphones by protecting mobile devices from data leakage, virus and nuisance. The new service e, supported by security solutions provider McAfee, is offered as another value-added feature of its direct handset data transfer service launched earlier.
Comba Telecom said it has completed the first phase of a multi-stage project to supply wireless enhancement solutions at venues hosting the 2014 Winter Games events to be held in Sochi, Russia. In the initial phase of the project, Comba Telecom worked with the official mobile partner to the Games and supplied multi-system, multi-band (2G/3G) distributed antenna system (DAS) in addition to installation, commissioning, training and maintenance services.
SpeedCast has completed the buyout of maritime satellite service provider Elektrikom Satellite Services. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. SpeedCast, a Hong Kong network and satellite services provider, also recently closed a deal for Australian Satellite Communications, which primarily serves the oil and gas industry.
