BlackBerry has announced a partnership with Samsung to provide a security suite for Android devices, and revealed it is exploring partnerships in China.

Samsung and BlackBerry plan to provide a security suite combining capabilities of BlackBerry's BES12 enterprise mobility management solution with Samsung's KNOX integrated security platform for Galaxy devices.

The system will be developed to address threats that bypass application security mechanisms and protect device integrity from kernel to apps.

“BlackBerry has developed a very close partnership with Samsung and we're committed to deepening the interaction between our engineering and product development teams for the long-term,” Blackberry president of global enterprise services John Sims said.

"It is a natural progression in our path to providing our customers with more alternatives to meet their evolving mobile needs. Samsung KNOX offers a number of hardware and software security features and our partnership allows us to tightly integrate these capabilities with BES12."

BlackBerry is meanwhile exploring partnerships aimed at allowing the company to expand its presence in China, Bloombergreported.

CEO John Chen said the company has already met with the heads of device giants Xiaomi and Lenovo and the chairwoman of Taiwan's HTC. The vendor plans to leverage its strengths of security, encryption and privacy.

The company will seek opportunities for technology licensing, distribution or manufacturing partnerships.
