The Asian mobile premium service market grew to $29.1 billion in 2008, and is growing at a CAGR of 23.6%, Frost and Sullivan said.
At this rate, paid mobile services across 13 Asian countries will gross $75.6 billion in 2013, the researchers said.
Premium services accounted for 44.7% of operators\' total data revenues last year, with the remainder accrued from basic messaging.
"[But] by 2012, content revenues could well outstrip messaging revenues," Frost senior analyst Jeff Teh sad.
Mobile music content such as ringback tones remains the top revenue earner, accounting for 21.4% - or $6.2 billion - of the market, and is expected to continue to dominate over at least the next five years.
Entertainment apps, including ringtones, games and video, accounted for 44% of all revenue last year. Mobile information services, such as news, search engines and LBS, raked in $5.2 billion over the same period.
