India's Bharti Airtel has launched TD-LTE services for smartphones in three more cities.

The company has introduced TD-LTE services over the 2.3-GHz band in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, with voice fallback to 2G, Economic Timesreported.

Services will be offered to both prepaid and postpaid mobile customers. Airtel will be offering live 4G demos at all of its stores in the three cities.

Airtel launched TD-LTE for smartphones in Bengaluru in February, and is also offering dongle-only 4G services in Kolkata and Pune.

The operator acquired 4G spectrum in four of India's 22 telecom circles during a spectrum auction in 2010, and last year bought out Qualcomm's stake in an entity set up to hold TD-LTE spectrum licenses in four more circles.

Airtel has contracted ZTE to build its TD-LTE networks in the country.
