Australian regulator ACMA has finalized plans for a multiband residual auction of spectrum in the 1800-MHz, 2-GHz, 2.3-GHz and 3.4-GHz bands, to be held in late November.
The regulator will auction 39 lots across the four bands, consisting of spectrum left unsold during a recent 1800-MHz auction and license reissue processes across the remaining frequencies.
An auction guide [PDF] published by ACMA on Friday reveals that the spectrum licenses to be auctioned will expire between 2028 and 2030 depending on the band.
The auction will use a simple clock auction format, divided across three stages. As previously announced, there will be no allocation limits in the 2-GHz, 2.3-GHz and 3.4-GHz bands, but bidders for 1800-MHz spectrum will need to stay within a cap of 2 x 25MHz of spectrum in the band.
Interested bidders will have until October 27 to submit an application and the auction is expected to commence on November 28.
Available spectrum is divided into geographic areas, consisting of a range of both urban and rural locations in Tasmania, New South Wales, Western Australia, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory. There is no spectrum available for South Australia or the Northern Territory.
