Accenture has launched the latest version of its cloud platform, adding support for a wider range of cloud infrastructure providers.

The Accenture Cloud Platform is designed to help organizations integrate and manage hybrid cloud environments that use systems from multiple vendors.

With the latest update, the platform now supports providers including NTT Communications, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Windows Azure and Verizon Terremark.

The new agreements with NTT Com and Verizon Terremark extend the geographic reach of the platform to data centers in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Accenture Cloud Platform managing director and global lead Michael Liebow said the new version also includes improvements to the platform's “capabilities as a management platform for clients to confidently source and procure capacity.”

The new version uses a more flexible, service-enabled architecture based on open source components, he added.

Consulting, technology services and outsourcing company Accenture plans to invest over $400 million in cloud technologies and capabilities by 2015. The cloud platform will account for a major part of this investment.
