As part of its strategy to interconnect data centers in Asia, 1-Net has boosted its data center connectivity network in Singapore with Epsilon and KVH.

The collaboration allows 1-Net’s customers to connect 14 key data centers at either a 1G or 10G capacity to drive more business transactions across multiple data centers in Singapore. This also provides customers with more connectivity options and diversified routes between selected data centers.

This interconnected data center network with Epsilon and KVH will allow customers to drive better business performance through a “Data Center Corridor”, 1-Net said. Customers will benefit from lower latency and the ability to connect to network providers, cloud and application providers, as well as content distributors at a lower cost.

The data center interconnectivity will allow 1-Net’s customers to peer between the data centers to facilitate the creation of new business models, the company added.

The benefits of having an interconnected data center network are the low latency and availability of high bandwidth for transferring extremely large files. For instance, most financial services enterprises use low latency connections to ensure high speeds in executing transactions.

Increased consumption of data and growing demand for third-party services is driving revenue growth in Asia Pacific, and there is expected to be a US$53.4 billion opportunity in the data center and cloud services space by 2018. This interconnected data center network through the data center corridor will also address demands from the increasingly digitized economy, enabling large data transfers between the different data centers.

“We are happy to announce the expansion of our data center network with Epsilon and KVH. With the data center corridor, our customers will be able to leverage the connectivity to other data centers in Singapore and the rest of Asia as they look to expand their business operations in the region, offering them greater flexibility, resiliency and cost reduction, ” said Mr. Wong Ka Vin, Managing Director of 1-Net.

This collaboration builds on 1-Net’s vision to create a high-speed Data Center Corridor through the interconnectivity of data centers in Asia, to enable businesses to access domestic and international markets more rapidly. In November 2014, 1-Net announced a partnership with TCCT and UIH in Thailand to enable connectivity between Singapore and Thailand. Moving forward, 1-Net will establish more connectivity partnerships to interconnect the data centers in the region.

1-Net North, an upcoming data center by 1-Net, was also announced in June 2014 and will be completed in early 2016. The facility will be Singapore’s first data center to be certified with Tier III standards for Tier Certification of Design Documents and Tier Certification of Constructed Facility by Uptime Institute, an independent data center research, education, and consulting organization.
