Fans have now labeled the Miami Dade Police Department racist after a clip of a police officer excessively charging at Hill and hitting him during his detention circulated. Some claim that excessive force was used on the NFL star during what was labeled a'minor' traffic offense.
After the Sunday Miami's 20-17 victory, Tyreek Hill expressed his confusion over why he was detained by police officers during the incident.
"I don't want to bring race into it, but sometimes it gets kind of iffy when you do. What if I wasn't Tyreek Hill? Lord knows what that guy or guys would have done. I was just making sure that I was doing what my uncle always told me to do whenever you're in a situation like that: 'Just listen, put your hands on the steering wheel and just listen.'"
Hill said
When asked after the game why he thought the police handcuffed him, Hill told reporters he had “no clue.”
“I wasn’t disrespectful because my mom didn’t raise me that way.”
