Doncic is again in contention for MVP, having placed third overall in voting this past season behind Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He was instrumental last season, leading the Mavericks to their first Finals berth since 2011. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished second in MVP voting last season, and the Canadian basketball player could win in 2025. At just 26, he has become a superstar in the NBA and a force to reckon with. How he developed from a prospect to an All-Star candidate and now to an MVP contender is commendable. Last season, he averaged 30.1 per game, 5.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists. He had back-to-back seasons averaging over 30 points per game.

Despite transfer speculations, Giannis Antetokounmpo will likely start the coming season with the Milwaukee Bucks. He is one of the best players in the league, and there is no doubt about that. The 29-year-old averaged 30.4 PPG, 11.5 RPG, and 6.5 APG last season.

Joel Embiid recently inked a three-year, $193 million extension to keep him with the Sixers through the 2028-29 campaign. Last season, he averaged the best points per game (34.7) of any player in the NBA, 11 RPG (6th), and 5.7 APG. The 2023 NBA Most Valuable Player averaged career highs in points, assists, and steals (1.2) in the 2023-24 season. However, he was ruled out of contention for the MVP after injuries upon injuries, which made him fall shot of the new 65-game mark. If he stays fit this season, he will be a strong contender for the prize.
