According to an early report in August, United has plans in the summer to reduce Old Trafford from a capacity of 75,000 to 30,000 to preserve the historical club ground and hand it over to the women’s and academy teams.

However, a report from the Daily Mail has now claimed that the plans might not work because of the complications and cost of the separate stadium. The Red Devils are now prepared to demolish the iconic stadium and start from the beginning. The proposal is considered not cheap, as architects Foster and Partners have been tasked with bringing the INECOS dream to life, and it will cost over £2 billion. Architects Foster and Partners are both the master planners for the redevelopment of club-owned land.

The stadium last season was reported on different occasions to be leaking through the roofs, with the majority of the fans having to leave their seats as a result of the heavy pour. This led to concerns being raised over the poor condition of Old Trafford's infrastructure.

The Old Trafford has been in existence since 1910. It has a capacity of 74,310, and it is the largest club football stadium in the United Kingdom and the twelfth-largest in Europe. Preserving Old Trafford would mean statues of Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Matt Busby, and Denis Law, and one of Law, together with George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton, would remain untouched.

United's next game at the Old Trafford will be a clash against Netherlands side Twente, where they will begin their journey in the Europa League phase on 25th September 2023, with kickoff around 20:00.
