Reports in Italy claim that Paul Pogba has been banned from football for four years due to testing positive for testosterone after a Serie A match in the previous year.

It was revealed in September that Pogba had tested positive for an illegal substance during a random drug test. The test was conducted after Juventus’ game against Udinese on August 20, when he was an unused substitute. He was banned from playing after his last appearance for Juventus on September 3 against Empoli.

According to a report by Sky in Italy, Paul Pogba intends to appeal against the recent decision regarding his doping test to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne. If Pogba decides to take the ruling to CAS, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will also appeal against that. Ultimately, a final judgment could end up being made by the Swiss courts.

The National Antidoping Tribunal informs that, in acceptance of the instance proposed by the National Antidoping Prosecutor, it has provided for the provisional suspension of the athlete: Paul Labile Pogba (FIGC) for the violation of articles 2.1, 2.2; prohibited substance detected: non-endogenous testosterone metabolites (the GC/c/IRMS results are consistent with the exogenous origin of the target compounds).

The ban could potentially end Pogba's career, as he will turn 31 next month.
