Hungary player Barnabas Varga suffered a horrific injury in their final group stage 1-0 win against Scotland as he was stretchered off the pitch in the country's Euro 2024 match, with Hungarian captain Dominik Szoboszlai in tears as medical staff responded to his teammate.

Hungary's players immediately called for him to receive medical attention. The game was stopped for several minutes, with the Hungary team forming a shield around Varga while he received treatment and TV cameras panned away. The Hungary forward was stretchered out of the stadium with screens protecting him.
The Hungarian FA subsequently confirmed the forward had been rushed to the hospital, where he remained in stable condition, in a statement released
"Barnabas Varga's condition is stable. The Ferencvaros player is currently in one of the hospitals in Stuttgart. We will inform you immediately if there is any news about his status."

Hungary went on to win the game against Scotland 1-0 thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time winner from Kevin Csoboth. The final result saw Scotland eliminated from Euro 2024, while Hungary could still qualify for the round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams.
