Euro 2024: England Reached Quarterfinals After a Dramatic Comeback Against Slovakia

England secured their spot in the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 by defeating Slovakia 2-1 in extra time. Jude Bellingham saved England from being eliminated from Euro 2024 by scoring a spectacular equalizer in the 95th minute against Slovakia on Sunday, followed by Harry Kane's early extra-time goal.

Gareth Southgate's team was trailing in the 25th minute when Ivan Schranz scored, putting Slovakia in the lead. As the game entered injury time, it seemed like England was heading out of the tournament.

However, Jude Bellingham's amazing bicycle kick from a long throw-in defeated Martin Dubravka, equalizing Ivan Schranz's first-half goal and taking the match into extra time.

Harry Kane scored the winning goal just 50 seconds into extra time, heading in Ivan Toney's flick to secure a victory for England. 

England captain Harry Kane has praised Jude Bellingham's last-minute bicycle kick against Slovakia as one of the best in the country's history.

"That's the desire and attitude from the boys and everyone involved. It looked tough for a second there but you keep going." "We worked on so many details around the week. We worked on a long throw a couple days ago and said we might need it. We had to ready for everything. "That's what Jude does. It was an unbelievable goal. One of the best in our country's history I reckon. "What a player he is. He works so hard for the team. There has been a lot of talk about him the last couple of days and it shows what he can do. In big moments he steps up, and that's what we needed. "We know we will do whatever it takes. If we have a game like this in the quarterfinal then so be it. We had to dig deep, and that's exactly what we did today. We could have done better, could have played better. But ultimately it's a results business and that's what we care about. So we can enjoy tonight and hopefully take that momentum into the rest of the tournament."

England will now face Switzerland in the Euro 2024 quarterfinal in Düsseldorf on Saturday.
