AJ started the fight slowly as Dubois landed a powerful right hand on the former two-time world champion's chin in the first round, dropping AJ to the ground. Joshua, known for his resilience, stood his ground and continued the fight.

The 27-year-old continued to drop Joshua multiple times until the fifth round, when Joshua tried to fire back at Daniel Dubois with his punches, but a precise counter-right hooking from Dubois finally sealed a shocking knockout victory when the favorites AJ dropped to the ground again. The referee waved off the all-British fight just as Joshua’s corner threw in the towel.

Dubois said post-fight to huge cheers at Wembley.

“Are you not entertained?” to a record post-war boxing crowd in Britain of 96,000 fans in his first words after the fight.

“This is my time, my redemption story,” said Dubois, who became IBF champion after the belt was vacated by Oleksandr Usyk in June. “I’m not going to stop until I reach my full potential.”

Joshua's attempt to secure a third championship and reclaim the division's top spot ended in a stunning and unforeseen manner.

After experiencing his fourth defeat in the last five years, Joshua has vowed to continue boxing. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, mentioned that he intends to exercise the rematch clause. This loss was particularly tough, as Joshua was knocked down in the first and third rounds and was saved by the bell both times.

“I had a sharp opponent, a fast opponent,” Joshua said. “A lot of the mistakes were mine.”

"Credit to him and his team. We rolled the dice of success, but we came up short," he said. "You know I'm ready to kick off in the ring, but I'm going to keep my cool, keep very professional, and give respect to my opponent. "I had a sharp opponent, a fast opponent and a lot of mistakes from my end, but that's the game. "I'm always saying to myself I'm a fighter for life... We keep rolling the dice."

Several of boxing's top stars were present at the event. Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were keeping an eye out for potential rivals, while Roberto Duran and Terence Crawford had ringside seats. Rory McIlroy, Conor McGregor, and other sports figures, as well as celebrities from the entertainment world, were also in attendance. Notably, Oasis superstar Liam Gallagher performed three songs before the main event, adding to the sense of occasion.
