The easiest way to retain an audience is to update the game with new content. The developers of Fortnite proved that there is no end to collaborations and updates. In the new year, the players will have a lot of new interesting projects. But the already familiar games are not leaving the arena either. In January, several companies will please users with new mods and additions. What updates to expect next month, you can read in this article.
VR-mod for Cyberpunk 2077
This add-on is not official. It is handled by Luke Ross, a fan of the game. This is not the modder's first project. On pure enthusiasm and knowledge, he adapts video games for virtual reality. This year he has already presented to the public VR mods for Red Dead Redemption and Mafia. Ross is also known for mods on GTA V.
Cyberpunk 2077 proved to be an extremely convenient platform for adapting to virtual reality. The first-person project does not require the creation of a new tracking point. In the development, the modder uses the author's framework. The platform is versatile for a wide variety of projects. But each time, there is a need for individual refinement. Only in this way the adaptation turns out to be successful.
The official updates and DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 will also appear next year. The developers promised to fix the bugs and instability of the game. Whether the improved version will be released before the VR-mod is not clear yet.
Dark Souls Fans' sequel
Another unofficial release is a sequel of Dark Souls from fans of the game. The fan mod is called Nightfall. It is a direct continuation of the original story. Developers and enthusiasts developed a new map, combat system and more.
The continuation was supposed to be released this month. Rumours about it appeared in 2019. But the team decided not to rush with the release. Instead, they dedicated more time to putting the finishing touches. The release of the add-on is scheduled for the end of January.
Nightfall runs only in a single-player mode. The authors promise to present the world of Dark Souls in a new light. Along with the redesigned gameplay, we should wait for a full-fledged voice acting and design. The sequel is compatible with the remaster of the original game.
Terraria universe update
The game remains a well-known name, at least thanks to the crossover with Don't Starve Together. But the developers decided not to be limited to the cooperation benefits. The game will also have a new author's content. We should expect the Journey's End update at the beginning of January. It will be released for the Nintendo Switch.
The team's future plans include working on the mobile version and new patches for consoles. After Journey's End is released, Terraria updates will be released for all platforms simultaneously.
DLC on Ghostrunner
At the end of January, the slasher will get a new storyline. Add-on Project_Hel will diversify the list of characters and locations.
The developers decided to follow the universal fashion to reveal the villains. The PH protagonist will be Hel, who is among the main bosses of the original story. Armed with a katana, the heroine will get a unique combat system and upgrade algorithm. The narrative will be divided into six missions.
The add-on will be released for PC and consoles. Its price will be about fifteen US dollars.
New content for Hitman 3
The third part of the famous series was released exactly one year ago. The developers prepared a lot of surprises for the fans.
Just like Cyberpunk 2077, the game will be adapted for VR-headset. But this time, the game's creators themselves will be involved in the project. They are going to work on color correction and realistic lighting. First of all, the visual component of the game will go through changes.
But this is not the end of the changes. The developers have promised to add to the project some locations and storylines. Along with this, the gameplay will be enriched with new control modes. Also, the team hinted that the players would have a few long-awaited releases. It is not specified yet what exactly it will be.
The beginning of the year promises to be fertile for new content. Add-ons are not only a way for developers to earn money. Mods and DLC will allow gamers to get fresh emotions from already familiar universes. The creativity of fans in this regard is not less exciting than the official releases.
