CIS DPC results: the second division was more interesting

The first season of Dota Pro Circuit 2021/2022 has ended. Team Spirit was the strongest team in the CIS, and nothing is surprising about that. This is, after all, the winner of The International 10. The top four teams also include PuckChamp, HellRaisers and Virtus.pro. It's been a hectic season, albeit all too predictable. Before the start of the league, it was hard to predict which team would finish the season in which place. After the second week, however, everything became clear. After that, nothing changed until the end of the league. Things were much more interesting in the second division. Four teams finished the season with equal points and claimed two places in the first division. We had to play a four-team replay. For an overview of what happened in the CIS during the first DPC season and which teams could reach their best potential, read the Cybersport.Metaratings.ru article.

Team Spirit is the strongest team

Before the start of the league, Team Spirit was considered the main favourite to defeat other teams from the CIS confidently. After all, the Dragons were crowned champions of The International 10 and lately, they haven't let any doubts about themselves. However, there were slight fears that Team Spirit might relax and play worse than usual, giving their rivals' chances. As we can see, that didn't happen.

Team Spirit

Team Spirit finished the first season of Dota Pro Circuit 2021/2022 in the CIS on the top line with seven wins out of seven. The Dragons lost only one map - against Natus Vincere - but confidently took the other two throughout the season. In the end, we can safely say that Team Spirit is the strongest team in the CIS. There is no reason to think that Team Spirit won't take first place in the upcoming regional four-team online major. Right now, it is one of the strongest teams in the world, if not the strongest.

I'm pleased with the team's results at 10/10. It's not that we've been straight trailing this season, but we were going to at some point. We had conversations about what we wanted. It was useful: after each of them, we wanted to try harder and harder. We legitimately won. Finally, we won first place in the CIS. It feels good, even nicer than winning The International 10.

Battle for second and third place

Danil gpK~ Skutin

Initially, only the first three places from the CIS league were supposed to go to the majors. Team Spirit took the first, so that left only two. These were the teams that battled it out for six weeks.

Second place went to PuckChamp, and the third place was a tight battle between Virtus.pro and HellRaisers. At the end of the season, they were both tied on points with a 4:3 score, so they had to re-match to see who was the stronger. The situation was as follows. HellRaisers had a fantastic start to the season, but they began to give up over time. Virtus.pro, on the other hand, started with losses but then bounced back. Because of that, the Bears looked much stronger during the replay and managed to pull out a solid 2-0 victory. However, it later became known that the first four places would be invited to the online majors, so that game didn't affect anything much.

I think we just started to play better, so we took revenge on HellRaisers. Valve made it a regional playoff series because people wanted something to play. But it's still not great when you're kind of playing the majors, and they tell you it's not there. And you're sitting there, not knowing what to do. I'd rather be in the majors than playing this league.

Natus Vincere is back among the laggards

Natus Vincere

It seemed that Natus Vincere would play well within the first season of the DPC. There were objective reasons for this, as the team assembled even before TI10 and practiced all this time. However, the team completely failed at the beginning of the league. Things did not get any better as time went on. Natus Vincere only beat the main outsiders and finished the season in fifth place 3:4. That's a failure for NAVI, of course, as the organization hoped for a different result.

Of course, we wanted to be in the top 3. But we realized what we were doing wrong. We have made a lot of conclusions, and the game is looking much brighter than it was in the beginning. Why wasn't I getting my heroes picked? It's not about heroes - the other one said. I think you've had time to notice. This playstyle has its pros and cons. Yes, I don't run 10/0, but it does untie my hands in other aspects. In short, it's a team game. I'm a cog in the mechanism that has to work properly.

Sixth place in the season went to Mind Games (2-5). This is the former Team Unique, which was bought and renamed by rapper IAMMIND. The team lost their first five games but then managed to win the remaining two, thus retaining their slot in the CIS First Division.

AS Monaco Gambit (1-6) and Team Empire (1-6) left the first division. Both teams played awfully throughout the season. Quite logically, they eventually fell to the second division.

The second division proved to be very interesting

SoNNeikO

The first division in the CIS proved to be very boring and predictable. Almost all the results could be predicted in advance. However, the same cannot be said for the second division. We had to play a four-team replay to determine the two strongest teams.

Initially, three teams were contenders to win: CIS Rejects, Hydra and V-Gaming. They were considered the strongest in the second division of the CIS. By the way, funnily enough, they all made it to the second division via open qualification this autumn. During the season, they took turns losing to each other so that at the end, all three had the same score of 5-2. Just on the last game day, they were joined by the Winstrike Team. After all, it had the same statistics.

The strongest in the replay was CIS Rejects, who easily beat Hydra and Winstrike Team. The match against V-Gaming was not even close as it didn't decide anything anymore. Also, to everyone's surprise, the Winstrike Team beat Hydra and V-Gaming in the replay. Recall the team with Daxak and SoNNeikO in its line-up. Quite an unusual result because their team has not played the best way during the season. As a result, the second division turned out to be extremely interesting.
