Al-Hilal secured their spot in the Asian Champions League semi-finals by defeating their fellow Saudi Pro League team Al-Ittihad 2-0 in Jeddah on Tuesday. With this victory, they completed a 4-0 aggregate triumph and set a new world record with their 28th consecutive win across all competitions.
Bet on Saudi Arabia FootballYasser Al-Shahrani scored in the 61st minute, and Malcom added a second goal in stoppage time. Al Ittihad made sufficient effort to overturn the 2-0 first-leg deficit but was thwarted by Al Hilal's goalkeeper, Mohammed Al-Owais.
Al-Hilal, who has won the title four times, will face Al-Ain in the semi-finals next month. Al-Ain advanced after defeating Al-Nassr, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, in a penalty shootout in Riyadh on Monday.
The previous record for consecutive victories was broken by Welsh club New Saints in 2016 with 27 wins, surpassing the previous record of 26 consecutive wins held by Ajax for 44 years. However, Al-Hilal has now set the world record for consecutive victories with a 28th win.
Al Hilal's Next Game at the AFC Champions League
After their record-breaking 2-0 victory and 4-0 aggregate score over Al Ittihad, Al Hilal will now play against Al Ain in the first leg of the semifinals on April 16, 2024, at the Tahnoun Bin Mohamed Stadium.
